Montessori childcare centre Singapore

Halifax Montessori Childcare Director - Ms. Yeo Hwee Fung holds a Bachelor of Science Degree, majoring in Psychology, from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point. Since her childhood, Hwee Fung has dreamt to be a mother and teacher. She started the school in 1996 because of her passion in working with children. She believes that children are like clean white canvasses. Whatever adults do and say to them are like spatters of paint dropped on the canvasses, leaving irremovable marks. Her mission is to assist parents in painting beautiful, colourful and meaningful pictures on these canvasses.

Being a working mother of 3 preschoolers herself, Hwee Fung understands first hand what today's working parents experienced. She is also in tune with parent's expectation of their children. Way before she became a parent, she worked towards building an ideal school for her children-to-be and today, she is proud to say that she has achieved what she set out to do and continues to improve and innovate for the best interest of all the children in her care.

Hwee Fung is very much involved in the running of the school, on a day-to-day basis. Together with the Principal, she ensures that the children receive quality care, education, meals and nutrition at the school. She also oversees the finance and marketing functions of the school.

Montessori consulting principalConsulting Principal - Ms. Martha Monahan

Martha is the Executive Director of Northeast Montessori Institute, based in Boston, USA. She has been training Montessori teachers for twenty-four years both in the US and internationally. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development, Master of Arts from U.S.A, and the internationally recognized Montessori Diploma from Association Montessori Internationale (A.M.I.)

Throughout her career, Martha had been a lead teacher, an Educational Director and a School Administrator. Her experience of both a classroom teacher and a school administrator provided her with an insightful and multi-faceted understanding of the needs of children and parents. This varied background, together with her on-going work as director, teacher trainer, and field consultant for NMI, allows Martha to bring the right combination of support to her work with supervising teachers and heads of schools. Martha has consulted with non-Montessori schools, as well as with Montessori schools in both the public and private sector. Martha is also a recognized speaker, effectively blending the essence of Montessori Philosophy with real classroom practice. In 1999, Martha's work as a school consultant brought her to China, Vietnam, Hong Kong and now Singapore.

Her supervision of teachers in training, together with her school consultations, has allowed her to visit numerous classrooms in many different locations. Yet, regardless of the cultural setting, her observations of the children's joyful faces and engaged activities within their classroom environments, reinforce the validity of Dr. Montessori's tremendous insights into the universality of the spirit of children and the innate forces which guide its development.
