Vol. 11/2010 maskA Day's Trip Top Africa
Our October's curriculum theme of Africa came to a close with an exciting trip to Africa, which was planned by the teachers. Each child was given their own "passport" to embark on a journey of discovery and learning.

Immigration posts were set up at the entrances of each class where children collected arrival stamps as they visited the different 'countries'. Excitement filled the air as the children waited in line to get their 'passports stamped and many were overheard exchanging travel experiences...learn more

Teachers' Day Celebration : 31 Aug 2010 (Tue)
We will be celebrating Teachers' Day in school on 31st August, 2010 (Tue) 11.00am - 12.30am. Children from each class will prepare handmade crafts as collective gifts for teachers from the other classes. After which teachers and children will settle down for some party food. We appreciate food contribution from parents but it is not compulsory. Please let Ms. Maria or your child's teacher know if you intend to bring food for better co-ordination and to avoid duplicate or over-catering. The school's program will resume after lunch.

Montessori Method SingaporeHari Raya Puasa Celebration : 9 Sep 2010 (Thu)
There will be a Hari Raya party on the eve of Hari Raya Puasa 9 Sep 2010 (Thu) 9am to 12.30pm to celebrate the joyous occasion that marks the end of Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of fasting. Through preparation of typical food served on Hari Raya Puasa, we aim to help children understand the essence of the festivities. Children will enjoy their 'food of labour' during lunch. Please dress your child in traditional Malay costume, if possible. The school's program will resume after lunch. We take this opportunity to wish all Muslim children and their family Hari Raya Aidilfitri.

Mid-Autumn Celebration : 17 Sep (Fri)
The school will celebrate the Chinese "Mid-Autumn' Festival" with a cultural night party on 17 September 2010 (Friday), 6.00p.m – 9.00p.m in the School's Premise. Parents and siblings are most welcome to join the party. We have lined up a variety of interactive activities that involves family participation. It will also be a great opportunity to get to know your child's teachers, friends and their families. Please dress your child in traditional Chinese costume for the party. To enhance the atmosphere of the party, it is most appreciated if parents can contribute a traditional dish from your culture or a typical Mooncake Festival cuisine. Further detail about this event will be available soon.

Parents' Teacher' Meet : 24th & 25th Sep, 2010
The second Parents‛ Teachers‛ Meet for this year has been scheduled for Friday and Saturday, 24th & 25th Sep, 2010 (Fri & Sat) 8.30am - 2.00pm. Your child‛s progress reports will be emailed to you prior to the meeting. Ms. Catherine will be calling you to fix your appointments in the first week of September.

Following are some notes about the meeting :

  1. Go through your child‛s progress report before the meeting.
  2. Prepare a list of questions concerning your child‛s development which you want to discuss with the teachers.
  3. Make plans to leave your child at home as we don‛t want to discuss about the child in his/her presence.
  4. We appreciate that you be punctual for your appointment as being late will affect subsequent appointments.
  5. Each appointment is 20 minutes in length. Over-runs will be avoided so as not to affect subsequent appointments.
  6. Don‛t forget this important date with your child‛s teachers as we will not be re-scheduling appointments.

Children's Day celebration : 30 Sep, 2010
Children's Day will be celebrated with a party on 30 Sep, 2010 (Thu) 9am - 12.30pm. The teacher will organise some fun games and tasty treats, not to mention presents. The school's program will resume after lunch.
