3rd June, 2010
Dear Parents,
To compliment the school's June and July's curriculum theme of Insects and trees, we would like to take the children to the Hindhede Nature Park at Bukit Timah Hill Nature Reserve on 18th Jun, 2010 (Fri) 8.30am – 12.30pm.
The Bukit Timah nature reserves are home to more than 840 flowering plants and over 500 species of animals. These include towering trees, climbing palms (better known as rattans), ferns, orchids, gingers and strange blooms such as the Black or Bat lily. The forest is home to all kinds of animals. The most commonly encountered are the Long-tailed Macaques or monkeys. Other special treats are the Flying lemur (Colugo) and squirrels. Forest birds include the Striped tit-babbler, the Fairy bluebird and bulbuls.
We will begin our visit at the Visitor Centre which has fascinating specimens, displays and photos about this wondrous forest. Thereafter, we will 'trek' to Hindhede Nature Park, an abandoned quarry which has been developed into a picnic and play area for families. Our children will be involved in activities to identify insects and plants and also enjoy the adventurous play area before heading back to school for lunch.
Please complete the consent form for your child's participation in this excursion and return the form to us by Monday, 7th June, 2010. The cost of this excursion is $5 per child.
On the day of the excursion, please dress your child in the school's T-Shirt and long pants, equip him with a water bottle on a sling, a cap and comfortable walking shoes and socks. Please ensure that your child is in school not later than 8.30a.m. The school bus will leave at 9.00a.m. and return to the school by 11.30am. Half day children will have their lunch before dismissal at 12noon and program for full day children will resume after lunch.
Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. We look forward to your favourable reply.
Yours Sincerely,
Yours truly,
Maria Seow
Principal
