Parent Involvement: 14 Feb '11 Making Cupcake Pops

On St. Valentine's Day, the mothers of Emily Kam (Watermelon Class) and Lim Kyi En (Tangerine Class) conducted a "Cupcake Pop Making" session with the Kindergarten Class children. Lin-Min (Emily's mum) and Li Leng (Kyi En's mum) are both working mothers but love to bake during their spare time. They have attended a number of baking classes and thus came to share their passion with the children as February is our Parent Involvement month and our curriculum of "People Around Me" includes hobbies and activities which people do for leisure.

Under the guidance of these 2 ladies, the Kindergarten Class children tried their hands at melting chocolates, stirring in the colouring, crushing cookie, stirring cream, moulding, dipping and decorating the cupcake pops. They adsolutely enjoyed themselves and were very proud of their creation. They were also equally eager to eat and taste their lovely cupcake pops. If you want to repeat the activity at home with your child, follow the instructions from this video.

Lin-Min and Li Leng also brought home-baked heart-shape cookies for the Apple and Tangerine Class children to decorate as this activity is more appropriate for their age and abilities. With the help from their teachers, the children had a lot of fun decorating the cookies. We thank Lin-Min and Li Leng tremendously for their time and effort in kick-starting this year's parent involvement programme.
