Parents’ Day Celebration

As Father’s Day draws near, our children would like to show their appreciation to the two most important people in their life – Father & Mother. Since we missed out on Mother’s Day celebration due to the H1N1 Influenza A situation, we trust the fathers will not mind sharing this special occasion with the mothers and vice versa. Hence we are calling this event “Parents’ Day Breakfast”

18th Jun, 2009 (Thu) : Tangerine and Apple Class
The Tangerine and Apple class children will be serving their parents breakfast in the school’s front yard on 18th June, 2009 (Thu) from 8.30am – 9.30am. The children are really excited and looking forward to your presence. They will serve you a simple breakfast as your family arrive at school and have a surprise gift for you before you set off for work.

Parents, we planned this event so that you only take less than an hour from work by going to office later hence we hope all of you can attend.

20th Jun, 2009 : Kindergarten Class & Student Care Programme
The older children will be getting up early on the morning of 20th June, 2009 (Sat) to prepare breakfast in the school for their beloved parents. They would have spent the night sleeping over in school as it is the annual Night Camp for the Kindergarten class and Student Care June holiday program. You are invited to be at the school on 20th June, 2009 (Sat) from 8.30am – 9.30am for breakfast. The children will be dismissed from camp after this “Parents’ Day Breakfast” event.

19th Jun 2009 : Forest Walk, Kent Ridge Park

To compliment the school’s May and June curriculum theme of Trees and Flowers, we would like to take the children on a Forest Walk at Kent Ridge Park on 19th Jun, 2009 (Fri) 9.00am – 11.30am

Kent Ridge Park, at the western end of the Southern Ridges, is covered by a secondary rainforest. The children will get to experience nature and admire huge trees up front. The highlight of the trip will be the Canopy walk measuring 280-metres long and perched near to the tree tops. Walking along the bridge, the children will be looking out for flowers, fruits, birds and small animals that make their homes on tress. At the look-out points, the children can enjoy the harbour view amidst meandering through the forest walk and the earth trails. It will definitely be good exercise for those busy feet and restless bodies.

Please complete the consent form for your child’s participation in this excursion and return the form to us by Monday, 8th June, 2009. The cost of this excursion is $5 per child.

On the day of the excursion, please dress your child in the school’s T-Shirt and long pants, equip him with a water bottle on a sling, a cap and comfortable walking shoes and socks. Please ensure that your child is in school not later than 8.30a.m. The school bus will leave at 9.00a.m. and return to the school by 11.30am. Half day children will have their lunch before dismissal at 12noon and program for full day children will resume after lunch.

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation. We look forward to your favourable reply.

Calling parents or grandparents with any of the above ability and or any other talents to please step forward. We would like you to share these experiences with our children in the classroom. It will also be a great opportunity for your child/grandchild to have a peek into your lifestyle which is of great interest to them.

19th – 20th Jun, 2009 :
Night Camp (Kindergarten & Student Care)

Our long awaited annual night camp, meant only for children in the Kindergarten and Student Care program, is approaching! This year’s camp theme is in line with the school’s curriculum theme of Trees, Flowers and Nature. A string of fun, exciting, unusual and educational activities await the children from 19th to 20th June, 2009 (Friday – Saturday), which are bound to lure them out of their comfort zone to learn and enjoy nature.

The camp kicks off at 8.30am on 19th June, 2009 (Friday) with breakfast in school followed by Trekking and Nature Walk at Kent Ridge Park with the Nursery and Playgroup children (June excursion). A hearty meal back in school after the long walk is followed by the highlight of the camp – Drama Workshop and Fruits & Vegetable Trail at the Jacob Ballas Children’s Garden, Singapore Botanic Gardens. After which, we will be back in school to clean up, have some reflection activities on the day’s events, dinner and a short movie about nature and conservation before bedtime (refer to our website-2009 Calendar-19Jun Night Camp, for detail program) .

At the Children’s Garden, our children will be guided to learn about amazing fruit and veggies facts. They will discover where healthy, yummy fruits and vegetables come from and be amazed by the many different types of fruits and vegetables in the garden. After the garden experience, the children will be engaged in a drama workshop with a professional drama teacher to unleash their imagination and creativity, putting their knowledge about trees and nature to good use.

Being a camp, the children will be spending the night in school. For some, this may be their first time away from daddy and mummy – a worrying yet thrilling experience. But this is a necessary part of growing up and we strongly encourage children to participate in this once a year activity. To ease the younger and less experienced, children are encouraged to bring their favourite sleep necessities (pillow, bolster, stuff toy, chou chou etc). The camp activities, in addition to helping the children gain concrete concepts and lasting impressions of nature, also aims to build self confidence and promote self-care and independence.

It will be a cosy Saturday morning when you pick your child from school as the children will work together to prepare a breakfast spread for their parents, to celebrate Parents’ Day. We trust you will be looking forward to this event.

Please complete the consent form for your child’s participation in the night camp and return the form to us by Friday, 12th June, 2009. The cost of this excursion is $30 per child (for camp) + $5 per child (for Nature Walk). Please refer to the attached list for the detailed program of the camp and our website-2009 Calendar-19Jun Night Camp, for the suggested packing list.

Payment of school fees via internet banking :

Since 22nd May, 2009, parents can make monthly payment of school fees via internet banking. This is not GIRO so there are no forms to fill. It is an alternative mode of payment in addition to the current cash or cheque payment and you can switch between the modes of payment at your own discretion.

To use internet banking, you must first set up the arrangement with your preferred and existing bank. Please contact our school's Administrator, Ms. Mala for our banking details.

This is not GIRO and payment will only be effected when you log-in and authorised the transaction. You are at liberty to switch between the different modes of payment (internet, cash or cheque) at your discretion and no forms need to be filled or letters written for not using the internet payment.

We hope this alternative mode of payment (internet banking) will help facilitate your busy lifestyle as some banks have the facility for recurring payment which once set up, will automatically deduct a pre-assigned amount from your account on the designated dates. Post-dated payment instruction is another useful feature for easy and convenience account management. It also eliminates cheque errors such as wrong date, signatory irregularity, spelling errors and defacing of cheques, leading to returned cheques which is time-consuming and an expensive affair (banks sometimes charge the cheque issuer up to $30 for returned cheques).
