13th March, 2009 : A trip to the Singapore Zoo
The weather could not be more permissible for an excursion – cloudy yet breezy. The children were excited and eager to set off to the zoo. They had been learning a thing or two about animals in the classroom and are raring to go and have a look for themselves.
Once we got pass the entrance of the zoo, the children kept themselves busy spotting animals. We spotted crocodiles in the stream below a bridge, saw otters lazing in their pond and tapir looking for ants within their enclosure. The Nursery and Kindergarten children soon settled down with a zoo staff and discovered amazing facts about the zoo‛s marine animals. We learned about the food chain of the marine habitat, touched a polar bear‛s foot and shark‛s jaw, held a seahorse and turtle specimen. We can now tell the difference between the penguins‛ feathers from the other birds‛.
After the informative and educational talk on marine animals, we watched the entertaining Splash! Show. During the show, we caught glimpse of the ‘mermaid‛ (Manatee) swimming gracefully underwater, the lively “Jackass” Penguins and the splendid Sea Lion! The sea lion showed off his tricks like jumping out of the water to touch a ball hanging from high above the water surface, swimming at a fast speed, spinning underwater and leaped in and out of the water. Gerald from Watermelon class was even “kissed” by the mischievous sea lion on the cheek.
While the elder children enjoyed the marine talk and show, our Playgroup children went to the new and sprawling children‛s zoo and later took a tram around the zoo. They awed at the huge rhinoceros, sleepy lions, neighbouring zebras and giraffes, orang utans on tree tops, swinging chimpanzees and many more. At the Children‛s zoo, they saw ponies, sheep, rabbits and a Kampong house with snake and creepy crawlies!
Both groups finally met for a hearty meal of fried rice and fruits before heading back to school.

27th & 28th March, 2009 : Parents‛ Teachers‛ Meet
Thank you, Parents, for taking time and effort to attend the invaluable PTM. This year we have almost 100% attendance, which is very encouraging. Our teachers have taken note of your observations and concerns about your child/children. The school and teachers will work along with you to address your concerns and try to achieve your objectives as much as possible. Please feel free to give us your feedback, expectations and suggestions pertaining to the progress reports and PTM sessions at anytime. We look forward to closer collaboration with parents for the positive development of your child.
We would like to see more parents participation in school. We thank Dr. Lim for agreeing to conduct the health seminar for parents at the up-coming Open House.
