20th June, 2009 : Parents’ Day Celebration (Watermelon & Banana Class)
Most children woke up by 6.30am on 20th June, 2009 (Sat). They had camped overnight in school as it was our annual night camp. After freshening up and a brief breakfast, the children were assigned their
duties – Banana Class to prepare food in the kitchen, led by Ms. Hwee Fung and Ms. Fiona; Watermelon Class was responsible for setting up, guided by Ms. Betty and Yuan Laoshi. The children quickly got into their positions.
In the Kitchen, Sok Man cooked scrambled eggs; Javan and Brayden boiled and arranged all the sausages; Mazie grilled the Zucchinis; Brigitte helped to beat eggs, cut Bananas and the Zucchinis; Sok Yee washed all the vegetables; Edan and Ethan laid out the buns and bananas while Leo helped Brigitte with the eggs.
Meanwhile, in the school’s front yard, the watermelon children were in full action - bringing out the tables and chairs, laid the tables and sorting out the buffet spread. They also found time to pose for group pictures. Nevertheless, they were anxiously awaiting their parent’s arrival as they had not seen their parents overnight!
As the parents arrived, it was heart-warming to see the children hugged and kissed their parents, as if they had reunited after a long break. As these children were more mature than the Tangerines and Apples, they knew very clearly what was expected of them. They ushered their family members to their assigned tables, fetched the hand-made napkin rings for Daddy and Mummy, went to the buffet spread to collect food for their family and got drinks. From your reactions, we believed that many parents were impressed by the delectable food and the exemplary service. Did we warn you that it would be an unforgettable experience, unparalleled by any Michelin-starred restaurant!
